Case Study Details
What did we do first?
Karen & Ian approached Droitwich Shutters after moving to their new home. Having supplied shutter blinds to their original house, the new home would be a new challenge.
Peter Williams was the surveyor for this project. During the survey, Peter made a template of the two bathrooms sharing the front window. After the survey, Peter made a detailed template & sent it to our supplier. A detailed design was then CAD confirmed & presented to Karen and Ian for approval. We quoted a firm price which gave them the confidence to order. Our work is local & our prices reflect this.
The Stairway Shutter
When looking at styles and colours for this area, Karen and Ian decided on wood stained shutters in a light oak to complement the stairway, which is a beautiful natural wood finish.
The Bathroom Shutter
Privacy was an issue in this room due to its location, and so any shutter solution we created would need to ensure the best privacy possible. When in use these can be quickly lowered to a privacy setting.
When not in use, a large amount of light comes through making the room light and airy.
Peter’s design included the operation tilt rod to one side to keep the view.
The neighbouring en-suite needed to complement the window shared by the larger shutter. Karen and Ian decided to go for white pvc shutters to ensure easy cleaning. The six panels all bi-fold open for cleaning the windows too.
Experience is essential to such a project as Plantation shutters are semi-permanent. They are usually left in place rather than folded back or removed daily.
They are easy to set for light control during the day, and allow a lot of light in when open. They’re not blackout (read out blog ‘Are Shutters Blackout?’ for more information) but do block a lot of light when completely closed.
During the summer, they can reflect heat to keep your home cooler and in the winter, you can close them to insulate & retain heat.
