What are indoor shutters made from?
Indoor plantation shutters are available in a variety of materials, colours and finishes to suit your home. We fit all kinds of shutters to buildings old and new, but some styles are better suited to certain properties.
All shutters help keep your heating in, but engineered materials specific for this can retain more than PVC & lighter woods. All shutters are simple to clean, but PVC are easiest. The type of shutter you decide to have installed is up to you, but we’re always on hand to give advice.
We have customers in older properties in the centre of Worcester in York Place & Britania Square which have large sash windows. Most windows are original wood with some still single-glazed to be in keeping with the heritage design. We supply hardwood & engineered wood to act as a secondary glazing for these properties and the difference in heat is noticeable. Interestingly the same shutters will reflect light & heat away in the summer.
Closed: warmer in winter. Tilted: cooler in summer.
