Many of our customers ask if indoor shutters are blackout, blocking light completely when closed. The simple answer is, no, they’re not, although they do block out most of the light and certainly enough for most customers to sleep well even when it’s light outside.
This means they’re perfect for many areas of the home, including bedrooms or spaces where privacy can be important.
How Much Light Do Shutters Block?
When completely closed, a full height shutter (that covers the whole window) will create almost darkness in your room, allowing a very small amount of light through that looks like a warm glow. This can make your room feel really cosy in both summer and winter months.
The below photos show the same window in a variety of placements.
Shutters closed but pulled open to reveal one window pane.
